The Ecsta AST (KU25) is the High Performance All-Season member of Kumho’s Ecsta family of performance tires for the drivers of modified coupes, sedans and sports cars. The Ecsta AST is designed to offer the exotic looks,traction and value tuners want in a tire while providing year-round traction ondry and wet roads, as well as through occasional light snow.

The Ecsta AST molds Kumho’s advanced carbon, all-season tread compound into a directional tread design with shoulders designed to increase cornering grip while the center provides linear responsiveness and high-speed stability. Dual-angle cross grooveshelp pump water and slush through the tire’s footprint to increase hydroplaningresistance while multiple sipes in each tread block increase the number of biting edges to enhance light snow traction. The tire’s structure includes twin steel belts reinforced by spirally wrapped nylon, along with a polyester cord ply carcass reinforced by a hard sidewall filler to help resist distortion at high speeds and while cornering.

I drive 120 miles round trip each day to work. I also do some light city type driving on the weekends. I put these tires to a great test in my opinion. I Highly recommend these tires.
I live in KY so we have snow, rain, and dry all in one day up here! My car is a standard shift 5 speed so Its hard for me to say how the tires are on take off in the rain. They spun from time to time but I never had any issues with sliding around, stopping, skidding,ect. I just replaced these with the Kumho X4 due to the fact they can be cross rotated. I feel that I could have gone 90,000 or more on these tires had I been able to cross rotate them. That is the ONLY reason I didn’t buy them again. I amvery very very happy with the Kumho brand and these tires. Buy them, you will not be disappointed!

I purchased four new tires for my Mazda Miata. Being a light car, these tires were acceptable for the first 5,000 or so.

From thestart they were very noisy. I found them the noisiest tire IÆve ever had.

They needed to be rebalanced more often then any tires IÆve ever owned, and as they wore, needed more and more weights added. And after 10,000 miles, the tires always vibrated a little at freeway speed.

They lasted a long time, but the last 5,000 miles, they were very slippery in wet conditions. Much more slippery then the previous set of tires I had.

My review of the Kumho EcstaAST is this: They are a fine tire for the money and they last a long time. I would not recommend them for someone who owns a daily driver sports car.

These are the tires that the dealership where I bought the car used placed on the car. For driving around town, road trips, or just having a little fun (great on the back raods), these tires are great for all around function and grip. They get a bit slippery in the wet but quite stable on the highway, even during a heavy downpour.

I was take these tires to 2 Autox’s, and as expected, they did quite poorly. They seemed to get really greesy the hotter they got. At least the spectators got a laugh seeing me slide around all over the place ;). But for daily driving, I might consider these again.
