The Primacy MXM4 is Michelin’s Grand Touring All-Season tire developed for luxury sedan and coupe drivers looking to combine all-weather handling and traction with good noise and ride comfort. Most Primacy MXM4 tires meet Michelin’s Green X standard* for low rolling resistance that confirms the tire’s contribution to reducing vehicle fuel consumption and emissions of CO2gases. The Primacy MXM4 is designed to blend a quiet, comfortable ride, responsive handling and enhanced fuel efficiency with year-round all-season traction, even in light snow.

The Primacy MXM4 features Michelin�s first use of theirpatented sunflower oil-enriched Helio Compound technology in an all-season tireto increase traction at low temperatures for improved braking and handling in the wet, as well as better overall performance in the snow. The Helio Compound ismolded into an asymmetric tread design featuring a European handling profile with rounder shoulders that are designed to provide progressive, predictable cornering. Circumferential grooves evacuate water out from under the tire’s footprintto reduce hydroplaning while Michelin’s 3-D Variable Thickness Sipe Technology provides additional biting edges to enhance wet and wintertime traction.

The Primacy MXM4 was developed with Michelin Comfort Control Technology using computer-optimized design and precision manufacturing methods to reduce vibration and road noise. The tire’s internal structure includes twin steel belts reinforced by Michelin’s BAZ (Banded At Zero) spiral-wrapped polyamide cord that stabilizes the tread area to enhance treadwear, handling and high-speed capability. The Primacy MXM4 features a polyester cord body to provide a smooth ride.

These tires came on my car from the factory, Ihave been extremely disappointed with them. They ride poorly, I can feel every crack and bump in the road, corner poorly, and have terrible wet traction. I will be replacing these with the Pirelli Cinturato P7 Plus when they are due.

This review is written at 16,500 miles onthe original Michelin Primacy MXM4 OEM tires on a 2015 Tesla Model S85 with 19"tires. I will definitely be replacing these tires with the same OEM tire when the time comes. They ride smoothly and handle the vehicle load as well as any tire I’ve ever had on any of my previous vehicles including my 2004 BMW M3 19" Pilot Sport tires. The Tesla is a heavy vehicle at 4,800 lbs. This is probably why these tires are wearing a little faster than any Michelin I’ve owned except the Pilot Sport’s on my BMW. At 16,500 miles I’m down from the originally new 10/32" to a present 6.5/32" which extrapolated to replacement indicates I’ll probably get no more than 40,000 miles on this tire set. This is no problem considering how well these tires are matched to this vehicle.

I put these tires (235/40/18) on a Lexus SC430 because Michelin does not make a tire I like in the standard size (245/40/18). And I hate the run flat tires. As always, these are smooth as butter, quite asa mouse and properly inflated they handle predictably and progressively (they corner well). Here in Florida it is always raining so this tire is the best choice for rain traction. I replaced a set of Landsail LS988’s, which are fine tires,smooth and quiet. But the Michelin’s respond to inputs a bit quicker and are a bit smoother.
As I tell anyone who will listen, buy a Toyota and put Michelins on it, does not get any better, end of story.
When I put new rotors and brake pads on I took the car up to 60 and hit the brakes till the ABS took over, 10 times from 60 to 10. The brakes began to smell, but the Michelin’s never squealed or slid. Absolutely great tires that I have on all my cars.
